Olaiá Music presents: Leo Middea

What started as a personal challenge for founder Breno Virícimo, became the start of a community in the Netherlands of musicians that are passionate about Brazilian music. Olaiá Music has released over 70 videos with more than 40 artists.

Olaiá Music has mostly built up its platform online. Even though playing in small ensembles for their YouTube channel happens in person, most of the creating, writing, editing, and producing is done remotely. With this very first residency program, Olaiá brings Brazilian artists to the Netherlands so the process of creating together can happen in person too. On the 26th of June, the first artist residency will be presented at the Roode Bioscoop. After two weeks of composing, playing, and recording, Olaiá en Leo Middea will finally take the stage together! This artist residency was made possible by Stichting New Amsterdam Jazz.

Leo Middea, born in Rio de Janeiro, began his musical career at the age of 18 with his first album "Dois" (2014) and he toured Argentina during the same period. Today with three more albums released: "A Dança do Mundo" (2016), "Vicentina" (2020), and "Beleza Isolar" (2020). He has already achieved more than 4 million streams on online platforms and has done more than 200 concerts throughout Europe and South America.

Wat begon als een persoonlijk doel voor oprichter Breno Virícimo, werd de start van een community van musici gevestigd in Nederland met een enorme passie voor Braziliaanse muziek. Olaiá Music bracht inmiddels meer dan 70 video’s uit met meer dan 40 verschillende artiesten.

Olaiá Music heeft voor een online platform opgebouwd. Vaak gebeurd het filmen van de muziek video’s wel in kleine groepjes maar het creëren, componeren, monteren en produceren gebeurd vaak op afstand. Met deze allereerste artist residentie nodigt Olaiá Braziliaanse artiesten uit om in Nederland samen het hele creëer proces in persoon te kunnen beleven. Op 26 juni wordt het resultaat van deze eerste editie gepresenteerd in de Roode Bioscoop. Braziliaanse zanger Leo Middea en Olaiá zullen voor het allereerst samen het podium betreden! 2 weken lang hebben ze gecomponeerd, gerepeteerd en een EP opgenomen met als resultaat deze prachtige middag in de Roode Bioscoop. Deze residentie word mede mogelijk gemaakt door Stichting New Amsterdam Jazz.

Leo Middea, geboren in Rio de Janeiro, begon zijn muzikale pad op zijn achttiende met zijn eerste album “Dois” (2014) en een tour door Argentinië. Sindsdien bracht hij nog 3 albums uit: "A Dança do Mundo" (2016), "Vicentina" (2020) en "Beleza Isolar" (2020). Ondertssen werd zijn muziek meer dan 4 miljoen keer gestreamd en speelde hij meer dan 200 concerten in Europa en Zuid Amerika.
