Drawing inspiration from a rich tapestry of musical genres including classical, jazz, tango nuevo, and traditional tango, the trio has masterfully crafted their distinct musical style. They've been deeply influenced by renowned composers such as Astor Piazzolla, Diego Schissi, Gustavo Beytelmann, and others, and have ventured into composing their own original pieces. With this innovative repertoire, they shatter traditional tango stereotypes and captivate a wide-ranging audience.
Beyond their numerous performances across Europe, Roffa Tango Trio achieved a remarkable milestone by gracing the stage at the 'Cumbre Mundial del Tango' in Buenos Aires, a pinnacle of their musical journey. Their exceptional talents were also recognized when they won the Supernova competition on 'Radio Klara' in Belgium in 2016. The trio's success extended to a sold-out performance at Amsterdam's prestigious Concertgebouw and a memorable appearance on the renowned Dutch television show 'Podium Witteman.'
The name "Roffa" is slang for Rotterdam, a city that serves as an inspiration for the trio due to its raw and rejuvenating energy. Rotterdam is a city of contrasts, where the old seamlessly interweaves with the modern. It's also the very city where they first crossed paths during their studies at the Codarts conservatory in 2013, marking the beginning of their remarkable musical journey.
