Escarteen Sisters: two sisters = two voices + a cello + a viola. They don’t quite make pop, nor exactly folk, jazz, or classical; they create something uniquely their own, where the poetry of words is often the starting point — and the point of takeoff: the interplay of playing and singing at the same time.

They have a very distinctive sonic world, shaped by their unusual instrumental setup and by the intimate, raw interaction of two sisters who have been making music together since childhood. The multicultural background of their Catalan–Mexican–Belgian family is one of the core pillars of their work: they sing in the four languages spoken at home, especially Catalan. Since 2015, they have performed across Europe and the Middle East, bringing minority languages such as Catalan and Dutch to other corners of the world.This concert is the presentation of 'willow tree', the first single of their new upcoming album. The videoclip will be premiéred together with a concert that makes some spoilers of their new album. This album talks about weight (stones) and lightness (feathers), closed fists (stones) and open hands (feathers), and for now, more we won't say.

Escarteen Sisters: twee zussen = twee stemmen + een cello + een altviool.

Ze maken niet echt pop, maar ook niet precies folk, jazz of klassieke muziek. Ze creëren iets dat volledig van henzelf is, waarbij de poëzie van woorden vaak het vertrekpunt vormt — en tegelijk het lanceerplatform: de wisselwerking tussen spelen en zingen op hetzelfde moment.

Ze hebben een heel eigenzinnige klankwereld, gevormd door hun bijzondere instrumentale bezetting en door de intieme, rauwe interactie tussen twee zussen die al sinds hun kindertijd samen muziek maken. De multiculturele achtergrond van hun Catalaans-Mexicaans-Belgische familie vormt een van de fundamenten van hun werk. Ze zingen in de vier talen die thuis gesproken worden, met een bijzondere focus op het Catalaans. Sinds 2015 treden ze op in heel Europa en het Midden-Oosten, en brengen ze minderheidstalen zoals het Catalaans en Nederlands naar andere uithoeken van de wereld.

Dit concert is de presentatie van ‘willow tree’, de eerste single van hun nieuwe, binnenkort te verschijnen album.

De videoclip gaat tijdens het concert in première. Tijdens het concert geven ze bovendien al enkele voorproefjes van hun nieuwe album. Dit album gaat over zwaarte (stenen) en lichtheid (veren), gesloten vuisten (stenen) en open handen (veren) — en voorlopig zeggen we daar niet meer over.
