On Wednesday, 24 June, Venezuela was hit by two powerful earthquakes off its northern coast of 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude. The disaster has left thousands of people affected and placed immense pressure on communities who were already facing significant challenges.
Multiple international rescue teams and humanitarian organizations have mobilized to support relief efforts. While search and rescue operations remain ongoing, several organizations estimate that the death toll could exceed 10,000. At the time of writing, approximately 60,000 people have been reported missing.
As Venezuelans living abroad, we have watched these events unfold with grief and a deep sense of responsibility. Although we are far from home, we want to contribute in the ways we know best. Together with the Roode Bioscoop, we have organized a benefit concert to raise funds for those affected by the earthquakes in Venezuela. Every contribution will help support humanitarian relief efforts and stand in solidarity with those affected by this tragedy.
