Linus Eppinger is presenting his debut album „Leaning In“ (Fresh Sound Records) which is following a rather common concept from the 50’s and 60’s: Pairing a young soloist with a well established Rhythm section. Doug Weiss’ (Al Foster, Lee Konitz) and Jorge Rossy’s (Brad Mehldau Trio, Wayne Shorter) unstoppable beat and creative orchestration give as much shape to the record as the warm and rich tone of Linus’ guitar, always with one ear towards the melody and one ear towards the groove. Piano talent Nicolai Daneck completes the band with tasteful comping, elegant lines and an impeccable sense of timing and swing.
