RBS 11 | Tango entre Lenore y Stefan
A voice and a 6-string bass: singer Lenore Huang and bassist Stefan Brunner reimagine vocal tango through an unconventional and intimate musical setting. The recording showcases the repertoire of their debut album, featuring fresh interpretations of tango classics and overlooked gems. Moving seamlessly between rhythm, harmony, and melodic counterpoint, Brunner's bass creates a surprisingly rich soundscape that highlights Huang's interpretation - one characterized by a deep commitment to the traditions of tango singing, yet refreshed with a modern sensibility. Distilling tango to its essence, the duo reveals the emotional tension and expressive depth at the heart of the genre. A distinctive highlight of the project is its encounter with traditional Chinese music and poetry, opening new pathways between these rich and resonant cultural traditions.
