Mara Mandeau is a 20-year-old jazz and soul singer from Amsterdam who brings a contemporary approach to these genres through her unique voice and personal background. Growing up in a musical family, with a Syrian-German father who worked as a film composer, music was always close by. The melodies of her father and the classical compositions of her Syrian grandfather form a foundation that still resonates in her work today.
Mara draws inspiration from greats such as Nina Simone, Adele, Amy Winehouse, and Aretha Franklin, yet she distinguishes herself through a voice and artistic vision that are entirely her own. Her music moves between raw emotion and refined musical structure, embracing tradition while breaking it open. The subtle echoes of her Syrian roots and the experimental influences of Berlin give her sound depth and character, making it layered, recognizable, and always surprising.
Her project tells stories of identity, love, and determination, where personal experiences meet universal themes. For Mara, music is more than expression—it’s a bridge between cultures, generations, and emotions.
She currently moves between Amsterdam and Berlin, working on the further development of her project.
