Pianist Atzko Kohashi and bassist Tony Overwater join forces with American reed player Michael Moore for Porgy X — an adventurous project that reimagines George Gershwin’s Porgy. Instead of presenting the work as a faithful performance, the trio deconstructs and transforms its themes into new sonic landscapes, created live and in the moment.
This is music as a living experiment: structures are broken apart, fragments reassembled, and unexpected sounds discovered before the audience’s eyes and ears. The intimate setting of Roode Bioscoop becomes a true musical laboratory, where risk and exploration shape each performance.
Following the release of their acclaimed album Porgy, Kohashi and Overwater now take the next step — inviting listeners directly into their creative process.
